Mystical Magical Creatures

The other day this was my facebook status

why do men (and women) create these mystical & magical creatures in their mind that they believe they will find as a mate?

People blamed on Disney and other things, but it made me think....why do we do this??? I mean we have these preconceived notions of what we want in the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with.  Below I will list some of the things I have heard.....

Women should be:
  1. Beautiful
  2. Skinny
  3. Independent
  4. Porn Stars
  5. Making 6 figures
  6. Make me look good
  7. Take care of kids
  8. Keep the house clean
  9. No kids
Men should be:
  1. Fine
  2. Rich
  3. Working
  4. Big Feet (you know what I am saying)
  5. The perfect gentleman at all times
  6. Allways attentive
  7. Making at least 6 figures (not the same as rich)
  8. No kids
  9. College Educated
What is on your list for the perfect mate? Are your expectations realistic or have you created the same magical creature I lot of people have?

Just some thoughts.....

How Dare I have Expectations????

The title is pretty much how I feel. I am tired of people looking at me crazy when I have expectations of people. I do not place my faith in people, but I do expect people to stand by their words and be accountable for their actions.  People always make excuses, but I am honestly tired of them.

I mean I don't expect people to be perfect, but I am tired of people letting me down. One cousin stated that I should expect the best, but prepare for the worst. Which I kind of like that statement, but I think it takes too much work.

I love people and I see the good in so many, but the negatives stick out too much at times.

Do you expect too much out of a mate????

Last night at church we had "Women's Night Out #2" which was a discussion on relationships, men, and women.  It was interesting...I mean I have a unique perspective on relationships (really want to blog about it...not ready yet) and I guess I listened to the advice given, but I always have a different view than most people.

One thing that is a topic that always comes up is expectations of the person you want to be with. People have this image, or vision for the "perfect" person for them...but does that person exist?  I am not saying have expectations or lower your expectations, but do people have realistic expectations for a mate?  Does one flaw discount a person from being "the one?"  Not everybody will look like Halle Berry and have a perfect compatible personality.  Are looks that important?  If you are married is the person you are with the person you always envisioned for yourself? Are people's expectations actually delusions???

I mean what do you expect in a mate?  What is important to you? Are your expectations realistic???

These are just some questions I ask myself and that I think about....
