Church folk are scary sometimes

I have talked about my faith on here a few times and I have also discussed some of the struggles I have had with my faith.  Today I really began to think about how some "church folk" scare me. Now what do I mean by that?  Well...if as Christians we are supposed to be representatives of Christ then why when I watch television or even people watch at church the most zealous people scare me?

I am not talking about the people who are passionate about their faith, but the people who are just plan crazy. I might be wrong for saying some of the things that I am saying, but just my thoughts and I am putting them out there. A while ago I wrote a post about an encounter I had with a lady at my church and honestly....she might be a really nice lady, but her demeanor and the way she looks and approaches you is a huge turn off. There is this other lady at church who goes around and just stares at you and then she shakes your hand then goes and sits down.  She just weirds me out.

When I watch some of the religious folks on television I question how did you get a show and is this a good representative of Christ? Everyone has a past and everyone has a testimony, but if the way you present it or the way you look distracts from people hearing about it then what is the point?

I don't want to offer to many specific examples. I know people are still growing and people are different, but some things just don't make sense to me.

Just some more of my random thoughts....OH! On twitter I mentioned a bog post inspired by my best friend, this is not it. That one is still formulating in my mind...just can't grasp my thoughts yet. But is about if black men should defend and take up for black women.

Gospel vs. Secular Music

Today has been a busy day at work, but needed a break so I decided to write a short blog.  Today at Bible Study we are having a guest pastor come for the beginning of a Revival. Posted below is a clip from the last time he came...not his sermon, but a fun way he started off....

Some people have criticized his turning secular music into love songs to God. So I pose the question of do you think there is anything wrong with what he did? What makes a song secular vs. gospel?  Do you believe that people should not listen to secular music?

No right or wrong answer, just your thoughts. I hope you enjoyed the clip above...I did ;-)

Being a woman...more than being single or married

This weekend I went to a woman's boot camp at church. It was actually informative and I learned a lot. I usually get irritated about these things, but I gave it a chance and enjoyed it.  There were different speakers and interesting topics.  My church is to have a boot camp for men later this month and then a discussion with men and women in April.  Things were addressed that were not usually addressed in the church. Open and candid discussions were interesting.

Although I have said positive things there was one thing that continued to irk me.  Not necessarily negative or positive, just irritating.  Why (there goes the question again) do people define womanhood between being single and married? Not to negate the lessons on emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Topics were great, but one thing...every topic went back to men.  What I mean by this is that this was a boot camp geared toward equipping women to be great women...but a lot of things were being defined as being single or being married. I am a single woman with the hopes of one day getting married, but me as a woman is not defined by rather I am married or single.

I am not the independent woman who thinks that she has no need for a man, but I am also not a woman who is totally dependent on a man. I have dreams, aspirations, and visions that I want to fulfill in my life. Yes, a husband will compliment those things, but my life is not predicated on him. Being a great woman is so much more than baring children and being a wife.

I am a beautiful, smart, caring, and loving woman. I work hard, give back, and try to make a difference. I bring in my own income (rather it be small or big) and I provide for myself. I mentor, I teach, I reach out, I give back. I listen, I learn, I love, I live. I am me flaws and all, take it or leave it. I am far from perfect but I am on a journey of growth.

These are just my thoughts. Debating if I will share with my friends on facebook...We will see.

Totally random free flowing thoughts right now....

Don't know if anything I write makes sense...but just typing whatever comes to mind...might not go together at all...OH WELL!!!!

Okay...I am having a very bad case of the Mondays!!!! This morning I woke up at the butt crack of dawn like I usually do, but today I felt like doing nothing...I mean I got up and cooked, but go to work...really did not want to at all. Then everything at work is irritating the crap out of me. That is not good.

I get in moods where I get tired of a job and I hope I am not getting in that mood. I love what I do and love how I help people....but today for some reason I am very frustrated. I am not looking for a new job nor do I want a new job, but I just sometimes feel that there is more that I can do. I have so many things that I want to accomplish and sometimes I question if what I am doing is what I want to do for the rest of my life? I love my coworkers and boss (most of the time) but for some reason today I will do not want to be bothered with them.

I had a great relaxing weekend and wish it could have been longer...Oh well. What did I do this weekend???? NOTHING!!!! I don't get to do that that often which was great. Did things not get done, of course...I will do them later maybe throughout the week.

I tried these new products on my hair this weekend, Mixed Chicks. I think I really like them, although I am not mixed, my hair is naturally curly and it worked wonders!!!! The shop was out of it so they gave me samples...I am on call list when the new shipment comes in. Only one store in Nashville sales it, but fortunately it is around the corner from my place!!!

I vented about my job which I try not to do, never know who is reading, but oh well. Now I will vent about people that I mentor with. Some people just frustrate me so much...I can't and will not be over every project that is set forth...do I want it to be a mess, not but it is not my responsibility to oversee everything. I use to be like let me step in, but I will not. I do not think tonight will be a mess....but if it is I won't be surprised. Order??? Is that too much to ask.

I know I should not let people get to me that don't know any better, but is it my fault that you are slow functioning. Now I always check myself because my mom says I can be stuck up and look down on people....which is not true. I can be bougie (never thought the word was spelled right) but I think all people deserve respect, but stupidness should not be tolerated. Laziness is not acceptable??? I hate to see things that I am in charge of a mess and feel that everyone should feel the same way!!! Might be wrong about my feelings....working on it, but no one else has convinced me that I am wrong.

This Sunday at church the guy the plays the piano sounded so beautiful... He is on facebook and I so want to add him, but I do not know him like that. Some of my other friends have added him, but until we are introduced formally....I will not.

Okay....I think I am done typing my random thoughts....if the layout is jacked up I will try to correct it, not very good at this. This is me procrastinating at work...Luckily a friend and I are going out to lunch!!!!
